On The Border (Gaepo's Wellbeing Getaway)
This is pretty close to the "real deal". A Gaepo favourite. The map isn't much good (on a mac anyway), so don't get your hopes up. Take a subway to Coex or hop a 6900 from out the front of Pangyo Campus if coming from that side of town. There are a few of these chains around, bu this is the one i went to. The menu is comprehensive and quality is very good. The 'tasters' are awesome and the chilli-sauce/corn chip combo is a great pairing with a few imported cold ones.

Rainbow Hookah Lounge
This is a real favourite among KISians and a totally chill joint to visit on the weekend. The place lives up to its name. It's decked out in Rainbow colours and seating is on the floor around small tables. Live music occurs and hookah abounds. This is a great place to get in touch with your Hippie spirit.
How to get to Rainbow By Subway. Get off at Gangnam St. (Green-Line), go out through Exit no 10 (this has changed since the opening of new lines into Gangnam Station. It was previously Exit 6). Walk straight ahead about 250m, turn left at GIORDANO clothing store. Walk straight ahead up to the 2nd crossroad, turn right at DUNKIN DONUTS. You will see RAINBOW about 20m ahead on the right. By bus. Get off at Kyobo Tower stop (which is just before Gangnam Subway station, follow street signs, you'll see the Exit 6 sign), cross the road to the Kyobo Tower (a reddish/brown building) side (or Gangnam St. Exit 6 side, or GIORDANO side). On that side, you can't miss the GIORDANO clothing store. Turn down the narrow street between GIORDANO and CAFFE PASCUCCI. Walk straight ahead up to the 2nd crossroad, turn right at DUNKIN DONUTS. You will see RAINBOW about 20m ahead on the right.
(For the Woomi and Goodmorning Hillers: Take the 1550.It goes toward Seoul on the highway like the 5500, then takes a right at the street that leads to Kyobo Tower. Get off as you come around the corner. If you miss it, you'll have to walk back a few km's. When it gets to Kyobo Tower though, refer to instructions for taking bus above! refer to BUS page for details on where to catch the 1550)
From the 'Visit Korea' website: 'NANTA' figuratively refers to reckless punching as in a boxing match. 'NANTA' is a non-verbal performance of free rhythmical movements that dramatize customary Korean percussions in a strikingly comedic stage show. Integrating unique Korean traditional drumbeats in a western performance style, NANTA storms into a huge kitchen where four capricious cooks are preparing a wedding banquet. While cooking, they turn all kinds of kitchen items - pots, pans, dishes, knives, chopping boards, water bottles, brooms and even each other- into percussion instruments. Performance Times:

Korea Gig Guide is the best place to find out what concerts are coming to Seoul. An easy way to find the foreign acts is to scan the prices and look to see tickets are at least 50,000 KRW.
Just Bluesis one of several staff member's favorite places to go in Seoul. . The house band is great, playing classic blues songs and other great tunes like "All Along the Watchtower" and "Ain't No Sunshine." They have 2 sets each night, the 1st from about 9-10:45, and the 2nd from about 11:30-1:00am. The cover is only 5k but the drinks are expensive (around 10k each).
To get there, take exit 4 out of the Apgujeong subway station (exactly 55 minutes from entering the train at Sunae to getting off @ Apgu). Take the 1st right, then the 1st left (as of 2010, a Smoothie King was @ this corner), then the 1st right. It is 3 buildings down on the left in the basement. If you wanted to take a bus, the 6800 from in front of KIS goes to Apgujeong-yuk, but I'm not sure which exit it drops you off.
HBC Fest- twice a year event (May & September) on the streets of Haebongchong (near Itaewon)...great happenings:
Other events to look out for: Rock Korea, World DJ Festival, etc.
Rock request bars are quite the rage in Korea. It's nothing fancy, but it's almost always a great time. You request (usually a more 'classic' choice), and they play the LP of your faves while you enjoy a tasty beverage. They are located throughout Seoul, but the hotspot for these is Sinchon. Ask Ben Harnish for more details.
